Product DetailsJenny Weston and her mother, Dora, have been receiving strange midnight visits. Bear Falls's own elusive and highly secretive poet, Emily Sutton, has lived her life cloistered away with her sister in a house at the edge of Pewee Swamp. But now, Emily's started leaving scraps of poetry in Dora's Little Library, and Dora makes it her mission to befriend the sheltered woman. Meanwhile Zoe Zola, almost famous author, Little Person, and the Weston's quirky next-door neighbor, is hard at work on a new book, this one about the inner life of Emily Dickinson. And once again, Zoe's literary work starts making uncanny connections with the events in her own world as Emily Sutton reemerges into society. But Zoe begins to suspect things aren't anywhere near normal at Emily's swamp house or in the lives of the people she claims have abandoned her...until looking further into the poet's half-truths leads Zoe and Jenny to a horrible murder. The chaos surrounding the ensuing investigation grows even more hectic with Emily’s increasingly erratic behavior, the arrival of a young woman searching for her missing poet uncle, and yet another betrayal in Jenny's love life. And only poetry can set the truth free in Elizabeth Kane Buzzelli's charming second Little Library mystery, She Stopped for Death.  (from Night Owl Reviews)

Biography

Elizabeth Kane Buzzelli I love living in the woods of northwest lower Michigan and receiving stories directly from nature. Nature gave me the crows that begin Dead Dancing Women; the low lake levels and the skeletons of Dead Floating Lovers; the unearthly place in the woods of book three, and the tent-worms: the overweening metaphor of book 4. My other work includes Gift of Evil (Bantam), history books, short stories in lit mags world-wide; work done on stage, and on radio. I teach writing at a local college and at Skidmore College for the International Womens Writing Guild. I write for the Northern Express Magazine and am on the Michigan State Library's committee to choose the best Michigan books of the year.

 MY THOUGHTS
If you're a lover of cozy mysteries then this should be on your TBR list.   The setting is northern Michigan. As with the first book, this is a curious mystery.  The author gave characters that were fun and entertaining, and each character was somehow mixed with the others.  You also get a mystery that is fun to try to solve with the clues that are left as you turn the pages.  Jenny Weston and Dora, her mother have started receiving late night visits. That makes you wonder who would be calling late at night.  A rather loner poet, Emily Sutton is living pieces of poetry in Dora's Little Library.   Now Dora wants to be friends with her.  This starts Emily to come out into public more often.  While Dora and Emily are making a friendship, some others are starting a book on Emily Dickinson.  Then Zoe Zola, the author working on the book begins to think something strange is going on at Emily's house.  That's when Jenny and Zoe discover something awful.  As the investigation continues, things only get more confused and complicated.  While all this is going on, Jenny is having romantic problems.   I am not ordinarily a fan of cozy mysteries but this one kept my interest.  Perhaps since it was based somewhat on Emily Dickinson life and her poetry.  The author does give the reader clues  that help you try to solve this fascinating mystery.  The setting she chose, especially the swamp house, brought a real interest to me about the book.  Perfect  creepy setting for a seclusive poet and the mystery that encircles her.
So if you like cozies or just mysteries, grab a copy and put your investigative skills to work.   You get the interesting characters, a good pace, clues for solving, perfect setting and a little romance tucked in.  What more could you want?

I received a copy of this book from the author and Night Owl Reviews and voluntarily decided to review it.

I would give this book   4 STARS.
