 No Education, at least not book wise, only seven years old, Elka is living in the untamed  British Columbia.   To herself she calls the man who found her, Daddy, real name Trapper.  He does his best to help her learn how to live in this untamed world.   She looks up to Trapper, but she finds out he isn't who she thinks and wants him to be. Surely Trapper would hurt her, or would he?  She decides to go in search of her parents who were out hunting gold.   On her journey she encounters  strong people who are trying to survive the bomb riddled land.  Will she find her parents?   Will Trapper go in search of her?   Will she be the next on Trapper's list of murders?    Has Elka learned enough to survive the land, to survive  the dark road she is on and will she be able to survive Trapper?
