AUTHOR
About the Author AJ married into a family with two young boys and didn’t
like what the market offered them for entertainment. He didn’t want
them exposed to all the sex, drugs and violence in kids’ media today.
Thus, RodKingz Entertainment was born. Today, you can play the dice
games, the trading card game, or the board game, and the video game will
be out soon. You can also read the book thanks to Xlibris Publishing.
This is the first novel from the Southern California entrepreneur, but
there are 13 more planned. The next one is called ‘Hot Rod Hijinks’ and
will be out around Christmas. Please spread the word and help give kids
an alternative that promotes interpersonal interaction and family
values.
REVIEW
REVIEW
Teenagers racing cars is nothing new. They have done it for years and ears. The name of the high school is unique, HOT ROD HIGH.In the hallway at HOT ROD HIGH, some boys, brothers actually were horsing around and ran smack dab into a door that suddenly opens in front of them. No sign on the door saying where it went. It is an entrance, o.k., the entrance to Raceland. Here cars are raced in different ways but always for the "pinks". This Raceland is rather a strange place. As you go through the door, something happens to you. If you spend too much time there or fall asleep, you are there and you can't leave. The Raceland is surrounded by some kind of field of force. Now one would think all is bad about Raceland, but it isn't. When you are there you don't age as normal people do.
The author was so creative. He used several plots with characters such as a narrator that is invisible, a gang known as S.C.A.B.S. and so many names that are character puns. Some more ingenious than others. There is Chili Peppers, Haulinbut's, Coach Red Cheeks and others. There were a lot of plot lines in the story that made it rather hard to follow. Even though at times I got a little lost with too much going on, I would recommend this book to any race fan, car fan or remembering when you were a teenager and raced for "pinks". I do think the characters needed to be delved into a little more, but I found it to be a fun, interesting and entertaining book. The author brought out a lot of imagination in the book. I felt to get through the many plots, the reader had to use their imagination and get right in there with the Raceland atmosphere. There is a board game and a dice game connected to the book and an online website for RodKingz for actual car racing with chances to win real prizes. Can't wait for Book Two.
I was given a complimentary copy of ADVENTURES IN RACELAND from A.J. Loft for my view of the book.
No other compensation took place.
I would give this book 5 RACECARS.
