MY THOUGHTS
This is one of the books that you expect one thing and you are caught off guard because it wasn't what you expected. I thought from the title that it was about a diner in Jersey but I wasn't quite right. It's a fast read so if you're looking for a book that isn't going to take a lot of your time, try it. Your emotions will will go in all different directions. A waitress, working at a job going no where perks up when the Oaklyn Diner is chosen for the site of a movie, called the Jersey Diner. When the waitress, 20 year old Lauren does work on the crew, she meets the star of the film, Jonathan Pearce She follows Jonathan to California when the filming is finished hoping to start a life with Jonathan. But, there's always that but! Does the fairy tale with Jonathan come true? If so, why does Lauren start working on a fast food truck to make that needed money to live.?
I felt this was a young woman on the road to nowhere. She saw a new and exciting life with a film star. She left what she knew, followed him to California. What she hoped and felt would happen didn't pan out as she thought. A case of not really knowing somebody before you leap into a relationship? A case of what was really a childish crush but thinking it is going to be love? Will Lauren and Jonathan find a romance? Or will Lauren be in a different place but still at a dead end?
I would recommend this book if you're looking for a quick read. In one way Lauren is immature and yet, aren't we all at times? Especially if we are down on our luck and thinking the grass is greener elsewhere. One good thing about her going to California was, she was alone, had no ties. Everyone would like a fresh start but sometimes what we dream it will be, isn't always the case.
I received a copy of this book and voluntarily decided to review it.
I would give this book 4 STARS.
