GHOST TOWN by S.J Bounds

GHOST TOWN
by
S. J. Bounds

SET ON THE EDGE OF THE ONCE GREAT AMERICAN FRONTIER, GHOST TOWN IS A CLASSIC WESTERN MYSTERY, WITH THRILLS AND TWISTS AROUND EVERY CORNER.

The wild west is wilder than he thought...

Phil Keyhoe always wanted to stand up for the little guy, it's why he became a New York cop.

But corruption is rife and after a bust-up with a vicious gang that almost killed him, Keyhoe needs a new trade.

Traveling through the frontier, he arrives at Silver Gulch and decides to set up his own dental practice.

There's not much to shout about in the ramshackle town, but Keyhoe soon takes a shine to the red headed Mary Jane.

As she tells him, Silver Gulch was once a mining town but when the silver ran out most folk upped sticks and left.

That's not all though.

A ghost haunts the town, scaring the few remaining folk away. Only those brave enough - or mad enough- to stay have remained.

But Keyhoe smells something ain't quite right.

Pulling teeth by day and hunting so called ghost at night, Keyhoe soon discovers even more troublesome news - someone's anonymously buying up all the property in the town.

And what's more, it seems he's not the only man whose interested in Mary Jane...

Can Keyhoe unravel the mystery of the western ghost town before it's too late?

MY THOUGHTS
Keyhoe decided he  needed a change from being a New York cop and head west to what he knew was wild, but he had no idea how wild.  He was almost killed being a New York cop so out west he went.  He totally changed his career from a cop to a dentist in Silver Gulch.   The town doesn't have much going for it  but a little red headed filly named Mary Jane. She is a widow and owns the local restaurant.  That little fillie catches Keyhoe's eye.  It may not have much going but is there something there, a secret perhaps? There are lots of people there, strange people and women are hard to come by so Mary Jane has lots of lookers.
There are more lookers at Mary Jane than Keyhoe such as the mine owner.   He wants all the land around since a railroad is coming through and land is of a good price.  Well this doesn't set well with the locals.   They need some law and order and they want Phil to be sheriff.  Most things back in the day were settled with a gun.  The gun was survival. What is the secret that this town holds?  Could it be a ghost, of sorts?  Or is it something else?   Why has the town been turned into a ghost town?  What happened that made everybody leave?   Who will win Mary Jane's heart?  Will the ghost be found?  Or will it not even be a ghost?  Could it have something to do with the local miner wanting all the land?   Step into the wild west and discover who or what the ghost is and who will win Mary Jane's heart forever?

I received a copy of this book from the author and Pioneering Press and voluntarily decided to review it.

I would give this book 4 STARS.
