AMBITION CAN BE DEADLY...
THE AUTHOR
GORDON LANDSBOROUGH (1913-1984) was a publisher, author and bookseller. Writing tales about the exploits of gun toting cowboys fighting out on the arid sands of the Wild West, Lansborough was himself a pioneer in the English paperback publishing world of the 1950's. He was widely known amongst his peers as the "maverick publishing genius". His other western adventures include BATTLE AT BROKEN KNEE.FLAMING FRONTIER, UNION SOLDIER, THE STOLEN BOUNTY and SECRET OF THE CANNON.
MY THOUGHTS
In order to get hold of Spanish Lands, General Andrew Jackson chased Cherokees into the territory. As always, it's survival, life or death for the Indians. The bravest warrior, Black Hawk, will lead the last stand against Jackson in order to let his tribes' women and children escape into the hills. But Black Hawk doesn't know it, but there is a bigger threat and it is coming from inside his tribe.. Black Hawk has a rival in his own tribe, Forked Tongue, quite an appropriate name, since he is willing to strike a deal with the Spanish. Black Hawk feels all is lost but he soon sees he has friends he didn't know that will fight with him for the cause. Some even come from within Jackson's own camp. But things go wrong and Black Hawk will soon be hanging from a rope. What will happen to him? Will he hang or will he escape in time to save his life?
The author gives a story of the past that is filled with heroism and bravery, an adventure with Andrew Jackson and the Cherokees.
This has the flavor of Louis L'Amour books.
I received a copy of this book from the author and Pioneering Press and voluntarily decided to review it.
I would give this book 5 STARS.
