When the Lights Go Out...
Who Will Be Ready?

All Gabe Thompson wanted was a rewarding and challenging career in the U.S. military. He's about to get his wish.

The government knows that a massive solar flare could plunge the entire world into darkness for decades to come, but few believe it will ever happen. The governor of Texas is hoping it won't, but planning that it could. She implements her brainchild, the top secret Operation Nightshade, and Gabe suddenly finds himself chosen to train for the end of modern society.

When the government learns their darkest fear is about to become a reality, Gabe can't warn anyone of the impending disaster—but he can stock his shelves and do everything in his power to ensure his neighbor, Lenora Diaz, will survive as long as possible.

Gabe must race against a cataclysmic solar clock if he hopes to be in position when the blackout descends.

MY THOUGHTS
What is really going to happen?  Nobody really knows what's going on.  When Gabe Thompson dropped everything and tells no one anything, it makes the reader wonder.  What would happen if our lives went into complete darkness? Would any of us be prepared?  Would we have even close enough provisions to help get us through?  What causes this might be a solar flare.  The author gives you something serious to think about.  What if this really happened?  Could we last years, even decades in total darkness? Ms. Chapman takes life as we know it and turns  it 360.  We no longer have things under control.  Things are totally out of control.  It appears Ms. Chapman did some extensive research that went into this book.  This book is fiction but when you read it, it becomes non fiction. This really could happen to us.  Think about it. Take this short story all in then after you found you are thinking on the real consequences, you go on to Deep Shadows and after that Remnant.   I wouldn't be prepared for something like this, would you? IT will give you chills. It will spark a fear in you of what if?  Makes you want to start stocking up for possibly the possibility. This is a nightmare that is building up for an explosion into our lives.  Remember this is fiction with the possibility or perhaps, the probability of what's to come. No one knows what the future beholds.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and voluntarily decided to review it.

I would give this book  5 STARS.
