POP GOES THE WEASEL by M.J. Arlidge

Pop Goes the Weasel

A DETECTIVE HELEN GRACE THRILLER

OVERVIEW (from Night Owl Reviews)
From the international bestselling author of Eeny Meeny comes the second thriller in the “truly excellent series”* featuring Detective Helen Grace. A man’s body is found in an empty house.  A gruesome memento of his murder is sent to his wife and children. He is the first victim, and Detective Helen Grace knows he will not be the last. But why would a happily married man be this far from home in the dead of night? The media call it Jack the Ripper in reverse: a serial killer preying on family men who lead hidden double lives. Helen can sense the fury behind the murders. But what she cannot possibly predict is how volatile this killer is—or what is waiting for her at the end of the chase.... (copyright Night Owl Reviews)

    REVIEW
This was one of those series books that you really should read in order. I wish I had read Book One, Eeny Meeny, first. Oh well, it will be next on my list.  The author an attention keeper, had the reader getting involved with the characters.  I had some trouble with the story as it went along. It didn't seem to me that Justice prevailed.  That the good guy won over the bad.  But it was written true to life.  That's exactly the way real life is.   The good guy doesn't always win. Justice isn't always just. The story was well written but rather depressing, but that's life.  Good doesn't always win over evil. I still want to read Book One and the next book, THE DOLL'S HOUSE.  These books, I believe are like popcorn, you read one, you've got to have more. Somehow I ended up wanting the evil to overcome. I know that sounds sick, but that's the impression I got from the book. In this second book, we meet a different Detective Investigator Helen Grace, one that's working on adjusting and changing. Evidently a lot happened in the first book which carries over into this second book. The book is full of suspense, especially when dead bodies start showing up. Apparently it is a serial killer after men who use prostitutes. The author makes you a part of the scenes in the book.  Very interesting and a definite page turner.

I received a complimentary copy of POP GOES THE WEASEL from the author, M.J.Arlidge and NightOwl Reviews for my unbiased view of the book. No other compensation took place.

I would give this book 4 STARS.
