Kristy Cambron has been fascinated with the WWII era since hearing her grandfather’s stories of the war. She holds an art history degree from Indiana University and received the Outstanding Art History Student Award. Kristy writes WWII and Regency era fiction and has placed first in the 2013 NTRWA Great Expectations and 2012 FCRW Beacon contests, and is a 2013 Laurie finalist. A Sparrow in Terezin shares the
heart-wrenching truth of the Terezin concentration camp during WWII. Of
the approximate 150,000 prisoners who passed through Terezin, nearly
90,000 were deported to extermination camps. Of the 15,000 children sent
to Terezin, fewer than 100 survived. Despite the lack of basic
sanitation, food and clean water though, an arts community thrived
there, even among the children. “The art of these children refused to
leave my heart,” Cambron admits. “The images are so heart-wrenching,

Two women are bound together through time. One little girl, a Holocaust survivor will connect across a century. Even when times are of their darkest, two women develop a friendship. The author wrote a story of hope and survival. To protect everything that they hold close to their hearts, Sera and Kaja hold on to the faith that gives them hope and the ability to fight to protect. It doesn't matter to them if this mean they will place their own lives and futures on the line.
A SPARROW IN TEREZIN shows hearts being torn in half because of the truth of the Terezin concentration camp of WWII. 150,000 prisoners went through Terezin, 90,000 were sent to extermination camps. Less than 100 children survived from the 15,000. No sanitation, food or clean water, the arts community survived mostly among the children. The author gave the reader a book that so needed a voice. It is gut wrenching. Even so, it is a book that needs to be read and possibly re-read. We need to be enlightened of times gone by instead of forgetting w hat devastating things people, especially children went through. I would recommend this book to everyone. It will make you think and think hard.
