As a member of a mountain search and rescue team, Gracie Kinkaid routinely volunteers to put her life on the line. But it’s at her new day job at a residential camp in the mountains of southern California where she finds her life is really in danger…

As a volunteer for Timber Creek Search and Rescue, Gracie responds to a call out for a car that’s gone over the side of a treacherous mountain road. The crash, which Gracie quickly suspects is no accident, proves to be one in an escalating and deadly series of events that lead her right back to Camp Ponderosa, a church-owned camp where she works as Program Director. As Gracie probes more deeply into the dark secrets at the camp, she unearths a hidden world of illegal activities, including murder…and finds herself going head-to-head with desperate perpetrators who will do anything to silence her forever.

About the Author

M.L. Rowland is the author of Zero-Degree Murder: A Search and Rescue Mystery.

REVIEW
This is the second book in the Search and Rescue Mystery series.  Gracie Kincaid volunteers as a member of the mountain search and rescue team.  The author's first book was about a mountain search for missing hikers.  Name of book, Zero Degree Murder.

This book is somewhat different from Book One where it contains a scene where Gracie is doing a Rescue or Recovery with the S@R team where a vehicle went over the side of a mountain road.  Most of the rest of the book is about Gracie and her trying to solve some of the mysteries taking place at the mountain camp run by a church.

The action starts when the vehicle goes over the edge.  The church camp is not what it appears t o be.  Far from it.  There's a lot going on at this church camp that is not good, down right illegal.  Gracie gets herself in a lot of life threatening situations and uses her S@R skills to get out of them.  She works the ropes so the young ones will gain confidence.
Gracie is a strong young female and wants to get to the bottom of what caused the drive off the mountain edge.  She has two men who are interested in her and at this point she doesn't want to commit to either.  This book was so interesting, fun, suspenseful, a little romantic and kept my attention to the end.  I can't help but want to read another book and find out more about Gracie. You can't read this book fast enough and when you reach the end, you are sad because you want more and you want it now.

I was given a complimentary copy of MURDER OFF THE BEATEN PATH from the author M.L. Rowland and Night Owl Reviews for my view of the book.  No other compensation took place.

I would give this book 5 STARS.
