______________________________
INVESTIGATING A SERIAL RAPIST ON BOARD, The Matisse Under The Stars, Brick Morgan uncovers a far greater threat to America: Terrorism on the High Seas!
____________________
A vicious sex crime on a luxury cruise liner brings private maritime
investigator Brick Morgan face-to-face with an old flame-and a deadly
terrorist plot that threatens an entire fleet of cruise ships. Morgan
must stop the radical fundamentalists, but his attempts to alert the FBI
and Homeland Security run up against a political battle brewing between
American loyalists and an American president whose weak stance on
terror opened the door for this series of chemical attacks by radical
religious insurgents. The United States government readies to sink the
Matisse to protect the populace from the attack and bury the truth about
the severity of the ongoing War on Terror. Meanwhile, Morgan and his
specialized team-a seductive female security chief with her eye on
Morgan, a belligerent ex-Gurkha looking to sabotage the investigation,
and a mysterious and exotic computer hacker-are in a race against the
clock to track the radical fundamentalists and break down the clues left
by a perverted Peeping Tom crew member, an Islamic zealot seeking
revenge, and the machinations of Washington DC politicos. Political
intrigue, forensic clues, and Brick Morgan's personal and professional
histories collide in a bullet-ridden climax, forcing him to choose
between the life of the woman he loves or the lives of thousands...

REVIEW
I've never been on a cruise so this was one of those I'm not sure book. I was wrong. SO many surprises erupted during the story. This was a cruise ship and how so easily we can be taken in, even by terrorism. This terrorist was out for nothing but to murder as many people as he could on the ship.He appears to be well trained and as things first appear, he will accomplish just what he went out for. Assassination of the entire ship.
Then our hero enters, Brick Morgan. The author also takes you into the life "below deck" which is the crew members home during the cruise. Hot, Crowded, unclean and not at all a good place to live. A lot of crime goes on down there. The crew members are quite a way away from home and they try to find their own little cubby hole to live in. The author goes into detail about the huge machinery that powers the cruise ship for days and days. The passengers have no idea what is going on in the nooks and crannies of the ship, right under their noses. They continue to drink their cocktails and the servers keep on smiling as they serve the guests. While all of this is going on, the terrorist is plotting very carefully their demise. I was so intrigued by all the workings and the conditions of the ship. The author not only described the characters perfectly but the entire ship.. You wouldn't think of terrorism on a cruise ship, but as we see day to day in our lives, ti can happen any where.
Mr. Anderson wrote a fast paced book that kept you holding on to the book like you were holding on to the ship's rails during a storm. It was a good book and I plan on keeping this one to read again.
Even if you're not a cruiser, this might be a surprise reading on things that happen on a cruise ship that you never thought of, but might after you read it.
I was given a complimentary copy of the book, HIGH SEAS DARKNESS from the author, Burr B. Anderson for my view of the book. No other compensation took place.
I would give this book a definite 5 LIGHT HOUSES.
