A PLACE OF KNOWLEDGE INSIDE A BELIZEAN MOUNTAIN A SENTINEL GUARDS THE ENTRANCE A SCEPTER INSTRUMENT THAT HEALS AND DESTROYS A JEWELED BALL OF BLUE DEATH A RACE TO PRESERVE ANCIENT TECHNOLOGY
The burial chamber of a Mayan sorceress is uncovered atop a sacrificial pyramid at Caracol ruins in western Belize. Translation of ancient metallic scrolls and a 1100 year old diary reveal a secret entrance to the interior. Trinium, the Place of Knowledge, was created by an advanced civilization.

When a flash of blue light kills their official, the UN assigns their scientists from Africa, John Henry Morgan and Mary Ellen Rollins, to investigate. They find a powerful scepter and learn the cause of the official's death.

Protection of the mountain’s secrets requires cooperation from Belize, the United Nations, NATO and the United States. But leaks of the find cause one nation to deem the mountain a threat to world order. To neutralize the danger will bring great risks.

REVIEW
Butterfly Scroll Clip ArtTwo scientists, Calvin Stanvich and Donald Courtney along with a young boy are exploring a Mayan ruin.   What led to this exploration was an ancient diary that Calvin had been translating.  Calvin didn't share it all, he kept some of it to himself, a secret. Then a tragedy took place.  Donald and the young boy die due to the triggering of a strange blue light. The things that Calvin had withheld that he found out in the diary were things he had other plans for. The problem with his plans is there is too much attention after the death of Donald. Now ISUP sends John Henry in to find out what really happened. There is reason to believe that Calvin is hiding somethings because his story doesn't jive. The translation of the diary and Donald's death don't match up.  There's missing pieces to the puzzle.  Anyway, John Henry and his assistant Mary Ellen fly to Belize and find an odd entrance to a hill. I as a reader wonder if I would just enter or do a little investigating before going any further.  In this hill all electronics are killed.  There are special rooms for teaching.  This was told of in the diary. It seems like everything that happens in the hill, happens in twos.
Since Calvin was having difficulty translating some of the scrolls, he decides to get help from the Chinese. But the Chinese have other plans.  They want to gain control of the hill and all the knowledge held within. They are wanting to create weapons with the knowledge.  Now it's up to John Henry and Mary Ellen to find out what exactly killed Donald.  They also have to keep the Chinese from making weapons.
The story reminded me of INDIAN JONES, and I simply loved it. A mix of reality and sci fi.  So much adventure trying to discover the ancient, mysterious artifacts and then trying to keep them out of the hands of the enemies.
I felt that the author left the information about the hill at a minimum so that perhaps it could be brought up again in a Book Two. I believe for a book to be truly engaging, some information must be left out for the making of a sequel.  If not, it makes it hard to bring in another storyline that connects with the first.I think that this book was just a teaser.  A teaser to make the reader want more.  And that it does. As I'm writing this I see where the next book,  The Ice Cap and The Rift is ready to buy. I'm ready to read the second book.  I hope some of the questions are answered and the  scenes and characters are further described.

I received a complimentary copy of THE MOUNTAIN PLACE OF KNOWLEDGE from the author, Marshall Chamberlain.
