Inside the Book

Title: DEAD SCARED
Author: Ivan Blake
Publisher: MuseItUp Publishing
Pages: 327
Genre: Dark Fiction Horror

BOOK BLURB:

Who knew the dead have more to fear from the living than the living have to fear from the dead? Certainly not seventeen-year-old Chris Chandler, not before his family moved to Bemishstock, Maine in the autumn of 1985.
His father’s job is to close plants for Allied Paper Products of Wisconsin. Bemishstock is his fourth crumbling town in six years, and each one has resented and harassed the Chandlers more hatefully than the previous. Even Chris will admit that his family’s odyssey across America has turned him into a lonely, brooding nutcase, and he has only survived the soul-sucking experience by remaining virtually invisible. Then suddenly one day, after a couple of totally stupid mistakes, Chris finds himself trapped between two nightmarish forces—a grave robber and a vengeful demon—and like the cemetery guardians of old, he must defeat both or end up a corpse himself and cursed for all eternity.  AMAZON BUY LINK

MY THOUGHTS:
WHO WOULD THINK THE DEAD ARE MORE FEARFUL OF THE LIVING
THAN THE LIVING ARE OF THE DEAD?

What do the living have to fear from the dead? What do the dead have to fear from the living?

It was a beautiful autumn day in 1985 when teenager Chris Chandler was fighting a demon, but his demon was different. The beauty of that autumn day would change. His demon never failed but to show blood. Towns were falling, plants closing up, things were hard, but Chris' father's job was to close those failing plants, specifically the plants operated by Allied Paper Products of Wisconsin. Townspeople were angry. Their livelihood was being taken away. They hated the Chandlers and took it out on them. Time and time again, with each plant that closed, the Chandlers were forced to move. The family moved to Bemishstock, Maine. Chris had become a loner, on the edge and struggles to just survive. He has deep problems and on the other side a very sensitive person. Chris finds himself fighting for the dead, becoming in a way one of the Mortsafemen (those who protect the graves). What will Chris do when he's in the middle of a grave robber and a demon? But he has no choice, either end them both or die. What would you do? Would you go face to face or would you run and hide? The author wrote an exciting and suspenseful book of demon horror. Not your usual demons but those who want to hurt the dead. Sure he still had the demons inside but he comes to grips with not only facing those demons but the demons on the outside as well.

When I first thought about the book, I thought this was going to be one of those Zombie books. Far from it. Not protecting the walking dead but those in the graves dead. Such a different plot. Wonderful and not boring at all. IT will place you on the edge thinking what would you do.? Would you become one of the Mortsafemen? or would you let the living hurt the dead? Anyone would enjoy this book from YA to adults. Face your demons along with Chris, but do you really have what it takes to do so?

I received a copy of this book and voluntarily decided to review it.

I would give this book  5 STARS.
