But Ryan likes Eva. A lot.

It doesn’t matter that Eva has a six-year-old son and a troubled ex-husband; when Ryan’s with her, everything makes sense. Eva isn’t convinced she’s ready to take another chance on love, but Ryan’s determined to show her he’s worth the risk.

 MY THOUGHTS
I would suggest reading this series in order since the characters follow through to the other books.  First loves often lead to heartbreak and that is what happened to Ryan McCallister.   After his first love and the heartache, he wants to return home. He's been teaching abroad.  But he longs for the home he's always known.  But time changes people and places and home is no longer what he remembered. It seems to Ryan that nothing is the same which it isn't.  Friends have gone on with their lives, someone he once loved is now with his brother and, yes, there's always an "and".   Ryan is renting an apartment from Eva Romero and he is  falling for her.  But the feeling may not be mutual.  It seems she just plain doesn't like him.  Ryan finds peace when he is around her.  She has a lot of baggage with an ex-husband who has lots of problems.  She also has a six year old son.  Eva is gun shy.  Love hasn't been very good to her and she is reluctant to try it again.  Ryan, on the other hand, is bound and determined to change her mind.

The author gives the reader a story of how we want so desperately to hold on to what we once had, the good things in our life.  But we also get characters that have had things happen in their lives that change that.  The good often doesn't end up that way in our lives.  The characters were OK but I felt more was needed in the plot.  The story just didn't have the "keep me hooked" feeling.  I had a hard time staying focused. I wanted to skip ahead for something a little more interesting.  It just wasn't there.   It was rather "plain" to me. I wanted a little icing.  This to me was just ordinary life that happens to most of us, every day.   Now, that being said, everyone as they read, see and feel differently.   Try the book. It may be more to you.

I received a copy of this book from the author and Night Owl Reviews and voluntarily decided to review it.

I would give this book 3  STARS.
