MY THOUGHTS:
Phoebe must solve a riddle or she has to stay on the family farm as she has promised her grandmother. A Cherokee Indian who has hopes for her grand-daughter as she is dying. She is of the firm belief that if you "Take care of the land and the land will take care of you." Then the war begins. Her once brother in law is trying to take Phoebe's home in Oklahoma. She is on the verge of caving in when a mysterious stranger offers his help to Phoebe. This stranger is not only a Native American but a martial artist and on top of that, he's sexy as can be. Is there a bind between Alex and Jack? And why does Jack, all of a sudden have such a strong interest in the property. Phoebe now find there are several riddles, not just one to solve. But her grandmother, although gone to a better place, appears as a ghost. Will her grandmother lead her in the right direction? Will the many riddles be solved? What is up with Jack and his attraction to the land?
The author gives us a rather different setting. Native Americans trying to keep their ancestry alive while living in a different modern world. We get a grand daughter bound and determined to keep her promise to her dying grandmother. We have a Cherokee grandmother who is dying, there we get a touch of the Native American. We get a conniving ex-brother-in-law who is up to no good and we then have the sexy Alex. How does he fit in? We gets a lot to think about and try to figure out. The author moves the story along at a pretty good pace and the characters are fascinating. They attract your attention and you want to know more about them. I was mainly interested in Jack. I wanted to know what he was up to. What was it about the land that he knew and wanted so badly.? So badly that he would resort to abuse and sexual violence?Whatever it was, was it worth any cost? I liked the possibility of a love connection between Alex and Phoebe but once again I go back to Jack. There's something sinister going on there and I wanted to know what it was. Phoebe grew strong and self reliant with the help of Alex. I was wondering where the title came from. You may find it interesting and rather fascinating. I'll give you a hint. It has to do with the mysterious sexy stranger.
If you like Native American stories with a modern touch then grab a copy of this book and with the help of the grandmother's ghost, find out what is going on with Jack, Alex and Phoebe. Will the heritage be saved? Will Jack pay for his devious ways? And, will Phoebe and Alex find romance?
I received a copy of this book from Night Owl Reviews and the author and voluntarily decided to review it.
I would give this book 4 STARS.
