                              Amish of Hart County Series
                          Book One of Two

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Shelley Shepard Gray begins a new series—The Amish of Hart County—with this suspenseful tale of a young Amish woman who is forced to move to a new town to escape a threatening stalker.
After a stalker went too far, Hannah Hilty and her family had no choice but to leave the bustling Amish community where she grew up. Now she’s getting a fresh start in Hart County, Kentucky…if only she wasn’t too scared to take it. Hannah has become afraid to trust anyone—even Isaac, the friendly Amish man who lives next door. She wonders if she'll ever return to the trusting, easy-going woman she once was.

For Isaac Troyer, the beautiful girl he teasingly called “The Recluse” confuses him like no other. When he learns of her past, he knows he's misjudged her. However, he also understands the importance of being grateful for God’s gifts, and wonders if they will ever have anything in common. But as Hannah and Isaac slowly grow closer, they realize that there’s always more to someone than meets the eye.

Just as Hannah is finally settling into her new life, and perhaps finding a new love, more secrets are revealed and tragedy strikes. Now Hannah must decide if she should run again or dare to fight for the future she has found in Hart County.

THE AUTHOR
I live in southern Ohio with my husband, two teenagers, and two dogs. My days are filled with busy activities like most any other mom and housewife. But I also love to write books.

Each morning, after my kids go off to school, I sit at my desk, look out my window, and dream of other places. The hours fly by as I make up people and places and drink way too much coffee.

Writing for Avon Inspire has truly been a dream come true. Being able to spend my days in my make-believe world of the Brenneman Bed and Breakfast is a true blessing. I have enjoyed getting to know more about the Amish culture and tapping into my faith as I show each character’s progression toward a personal relationship with our Lord.

Before becoming a full time writer, I taught elementary school in Texas, Arizona, and Colorado. A job transfer to Ohio led my husband to encourage me to finally give writing a try. After all, I had notebooks full of made up stories.

I’ll never forget that first book I typed in our unfinished basement. It was exciting to make up a story, but also very scary. I was also so embarrassed, sure someone would come out of the woodwork and point out that I wasn’t a ‘real’ writer. But I persevered, and sold my third manuscript.

Things have changed a bit. Now I have a real office of my own. (think old guest bedroom!) My walls are painted pink, and more than a couple of book covers decorate my walls. But my days are still the same. I wake up, dream about other people, and do my best to type out stories.

A stalker that a young Amish woman once thought as a friend, has now forced Hannah Hilty and her family to move away to a new town.  But things haven't changed as far as the stalker.  He moved too and took on a new identity.   Hannah and her family think they are safe against this man, but soon they realize he is there and he wants Hannah.  Hannah's younger siblings don't like their new home in Hart County, Kentucky and they blame Hannah for having to leave their big farm in a large Amish community.  They now live in a small home in a small town.   Hannah becomes so afraid that she doesn't trust anyone, doesn't want to leave the house  and has become a Recluse, as Isaac Troyer calls her.  Isaac is a friendly neighbor and becomes very protective of Hannah.  Is there romance in the future?  Hannah slowly lets her guard down and becomes very close with Isaac.  But the stalker hasn't let go and won't until he has Hannah all to himself.  Hannah is a target and her stalker is dangerous.  On top of all she is dealing with, she finds out her father is dying.  Will Hannah stand up and face things or will she hide forever?

The author gives the reader a charming and yet suspenseful read.  It is well written and flows well. Faith is a strong part of this book.   She gives good detail of the characters and scenery.  The characters are all tied together in one way or another and yet the author doesn't give too many characters where you have trouble keeping track of them.  I felt for Hannah and understood why she was so afraid and yet I wanted her stalker to feel the same way.  To see what he was doing selfishly to Hannah and those she loved.  The author slowly builds the suspense until the stalker finally has Hannah, but what will happen to Hannah?   You're given a lot to think about with characters you can connect with.  This is a little different take on the Amish than other books I've read.  This went outside of the mostly protected lives of the Amish and let the evils of the outside, in.  I also loved the way the author brought the Amish community together to face what was happening to one of their own and also to support Hannah and her family.

If you like suspense, Amish romance books or just a good clean read, then follow Hannah and those who love her.  Remember though that the stalker is out there and Hannah's life is at stake.  Will Isaac and Hannah fall in love and live happily ever after or will the stalker win? Read and decide.
