AUTHOR
Tower LoweTower Lowe (aka Donna Tower Pecherer) is published in Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine and is the author of mystery novellas and a full-length novel featuring Cinnamon and Burro. She lives in New Mexico. The search for Momma in this series reflects the author's real life story because her own mother died when she was 13, and so she "searched" for her mother most of her life. Tower Lowe was a real person and Donna Tower Pecherer was named for her. Tower suffered from epilepsy, and died as a result of burns suffered during an epileptic seizure. All the stories include individuals with disabilities, including Burro, who partners with Cinnamon to solve crimes.

MY THOUGHTS
First off, the cover caught my interest.   What happened to this person? The author gave the reader some really fascinating characters.   This is a journey across New Mexico towns where some really mysterious things are happening.  Or main character, Cinnamon, an investigator who likes to take on cases that are on the edge, touchy subjects and yes, of course, murder.   Cinnamon has a partner, Burro, who has a slight insight or should I say different characteristic, he has hallucinations.   This is really a plus since the two use these hallucinations in their investigations.   The author gives the reader a little different look on mysteries.   Ms. Lowe gave descriptions of the scenery and the characters that made the reader actually picture the people and places.  I think the New Mexico locale added to the stories.   It made the mystery more interesting.  Usually mysteries are set in big cities with not much on descriptive scenery.  I like the way the author took one short story and led it into the next short story focusing on one main topic.  Being short stories you can stop after one story if need be and pick up later on.  You don't lose yourself even though you put the book down for a while.  I think the basis for the book being an abused, challenged, but very intelligent child being neglected by the school system is unique.  I believe this is something that a lot of parents and children can relate to in their own lives.    I wasn't sure I wanted to read this book but I would have been sorry to have missed out on Cinnamon and Burro.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author, Tower Lowe and voluntarily decided to review it.

I would give this book 5 STARS.
