Dead Lawyers Don't Lie: A Gripping Thriller (Jake Wolfe Book 1) by [Nolan, Mark]

MY THOUGHTS

The Artist was a killer and he was very selective of those he killed. High dollar lawyers in San Francisco.  Jake Wolfe is a war vet and by accident  he takes a picture of the murderer while a murder is being committed.  In the right place at the right time or in the wrong place at the wrong time?  You would have no idea that someone that calls himself The Artist would be a cold blooded killer, but think about it.   He evidently thinks it's an art in what he does.  Maybe he's very calculating and puts a lot of thought into his craft, and I say that sarcastically.  With Jake taking that picture, he's now on The Artist's kill list.   Now Jake is in this deadly game without ever knowing he was entering.   Who will survive?  Will Jake somehow outwit the killer and bring him to justice or will Jake be added to the list of The Artist's dead lawyers.  The Artist had to veer from his usual victims since Jake isn't a lawyer but he really didn't have a choice.  Jake has seen his face and it won't be long before the puzzle pieces will be put together.   Jake has been trying to leave his war days behind him but this sick killer isn't about to let him do that.  Jake could run but would he ever be able to run away from what he knows and The Artist would be sure to track him down.

The author gave the reader a specific murder mystery that took the off ramp when the unexpected occurred.  Jake saw the murderer.  Was this fate or was Jake supposed to be the hero after all his war days?  The author gives you The Artist and gives you a lot to think about and try to figure out.  What caused this person to start killing?   Especially killing high dollar lawyers?  Was he once on trial and defended by one of them?  Or was it someone he cared for and the outcome wasn't so good?  Or did it have something to do with art?   Was The Artist an art lover?   Evidently Jake was.  What a coincidental connection. What caused The Artist to cross that forbidden line?   What about Jake?  Did the war damage him or make him stronger?  He's now in a race for his life and maybe many others.  He doesn't want any part of this but life stepped in and made a U-turn for Jake.  As I turned the pages I thought I had it figured out and about the time I started reading another page, I knew I was wrong.  I don't think I even got the whole of The Artist even at the end. Then you have to consider the title.  Were some lawyers doing some lying in court? Did it have to do with The Artist or someone close to him?  So looking for Book Two. I want more of The Artist.  This was a roller coaster ride of life and death that kept me glued to the book.  I just couldn't put it down.  One of a kind mystery, murder with so much for the reader to consider other than just the words.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and decided to voluntarily review it.

I would give this book  5 STARS.
