MY THOUGHTS
I have a hard time reading books that are all doom and gloom.  This one is a bit dark for me and Gothic isn't quite my thing.  That's just my own preference.   The book was written well and the pace was steady but for some reason, right now, I was looking for a little more light at the end of the tunnel and this book wasn't it.  The tension does grow as you read and you will find you holding on to the edge of your chair.  I did like the romance part that was woven into the book but as for the rest,  I would suggest you grab a copy and read it for yourself.    I had read the other three books in this series and didn't have quite the hard time as I did with this first book.  It could be that the introduction into the characters and story were already told when I read the other books.  I just don't know. As I said, it may just be I read at the wrong time or maybe I should have read it first instead of books 2,3,4.   Don't let this influence your reading  this book.  Everyone has their opinion.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and Kregel publications in exchange for my unbiased and honest review.

I would give this book 3  STARS.
