A MOTHER FOR HIS ADOPTED SON is a well written, realistic story. The characters are true to life and you can almost develop relationships with them. We have two people who both have problems that have haunted them for years. There could be a possible romance between these two individuals but there is a serious medical issue. The realism in this story makes the reader become a part of the story and the character's lives. There are usually issues that have to be taken care of before two lives can emerge as one in love.
A young boy, Dani is always around Dr. Sam Marcus as he takes care of some typhoon survivors. When Sam goes back home, he is constantly thinking about adopting the little one. Soon Sam becomes a single father. The reader can almost pick that little boy up and hug him. That's how real this story is. The happy times came to an end when Dan is diagnosed with eye cancer. He is only three years old and is facing possible surgery and other treatment.
At a local hospital, there is a young woman, Andrea Rimmer who Sam isn't sure if she is the right one to treat Dani. As he watches her relate to Dani, Sam changes his mind. He now thinks she is the right specialist to treat Dani with a prosthetic eye. Does a romance develop between Sam and Andrea? Does Sam want to date again after the painful breakup he's been through? The problems between them came from their childhoods. There is the sexual desire between them but the baggage is holding them back. They have to find a way to settle all those old issues and learn to devote themselves to each other. This is so true of real life. The author, Ms. Marshall sends the reader through so many emotions, some that touch your heart and keep you turning those pages. The characters are caring and have so much to give others. You will find yourself falling in love with three year old , Dani. Ms. Marshall writes with such details and such emotion that the reader is totally connected to the story. Grab a copy and become immersed in the lives of Dani, Sam and Andrea.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book for my unbiased review. No other compensation took place.
I would give this book 5 STARS.
Lynne used to worry she had a serious problem with daydreaming, then she discovered she was supposed to write those stories! A late bloomer, she came to fiction writing after her children were nearly grown. Now she battles the empty nest by writing stories which always include a romance and often medicine, but always stories straight from her heart. She is a Southern California native, a woman of faith, a dog lover, and a curious traveler.
