About the Author
Jessica Topper is an ex-librarian turned rock n' roll number cruncher. She can trace her love for the written word back to age three, when she memorized Maurice Sendak's "Chicken Soup with Rice" in its entirety. After her daughter was born, Jessica left the Manhattan library world and began working for her husband's music management company. He offered her a part-time bookkeeping job so she could "stay home for the baby's first year" and pursue her dream of writing.
The baby is now thirteen, and Jessica has been working her full-time, sold-her-soul-for-rock-n-roll job as Office Manager for veteran jam band moe. ever since. She may have traded in books for bookkeeping, but the written word is never far from her mind, or her heart.
Jessica lives in upstate New York with her husband, daughter and one ancient cat. You can visit her at www.jessicatopper.com.
REVIEW
This is a charming book that will go straight to your heart.. Dani is the black sheep of the family.. The author wrote Dani to have a good heart and hold her own. Ms. Topper has a bad boy help her and Dani is helping him back. Nash also needs a fiance to go back to his home. Dani isn't sure about this but accepts Nash's offer. The author bring in Nash's childhood best friend, Mick, Mich is a too hot for his own good baker. He falls fast and hard for Dani. They have good vibes between them, with lots of sexual tension, somehow the romance fell short. This disappointed me. I wanted a romance between them, a good love story. I was hoping Dani could tone Mick down some. The author writes several connecting story lines that involve Dani, Mick, Nash and the rest of t e characters. The author gives the reader all, drama, lost love, dreams that don't come true, friendships that go through a lot of turmoil. I was disappointed that none of the storylines were given the attention that they needed. There is a lot to enjoy in the book, I was just disappointed that it was more superficial than I would have liked. I wanted more detail with the characters and their various problems. This is the second book in the Much 'I Do" About Nothing series but it can be read as a standalone. Perhaps if I had read the first book, this book would have come together better. I'll have to do that.
I was given a complimentary copy of COURTSHIP OF THE CAKE from the author, Jessica Topper and Night Owl Reviews for my view of the book.
I would give this book 3 STARS.
