Portland, Oregon, is the perfect fit for someone like Meg Reed. It's a city with a small town feel, where she can crash on the couch of her best friend Jill, now that she's graduated from journalism school. . . But a girl needs a job, so Meg bluffs her way into writing for Northwest Extreme magazine, passing herself off to editor-in-chief Greg Dixon as an outdoor adventure enthusiast. Never mind that Meg's idea of sport is climbing onto the couch without spilling her latte. So when she finds herself clawing to the top of Angel's Rest--a two-thousand-foot peak--to cover the latest challenge in a reality TV adventure show, she can't imagine feeling more terrified. Until she witnesses a body plummet off the side of the cliff. Now Meg has a murder to investigate. And if the climbing doesn't kill her, a murderer just might. . . Includes Adventure Guides!

REVIEW

PORTLAND OREGON, IS THE PERFECT FIT FOR SOMEONE LIKE MEG REED.  IT'S A CITY WITH A SMALL TOWN FEEL, WHERE SHE CAN CRASH ON THE COUCH OF HER BEST FRIEND Jill, NOW THAT SHE'S GRADUATED FROM JOURNALISM SCHOOL...

The author wrote a new cozy series that shows more books on the way.   A young woman, Meg,fresh out of college, good hearted and sometimes kind of bumbling
has always wanted to follow in her father's career as an investigative journalist.  Jill, her best friend, with a nice apartment located in Portland is more than willing to accept Meg's unkempt ways.  Of course, we have to have romance and there are some suitable interests for the heroine. The author has given the reader a cast of characters that will enter easily into future books.  Of course, we have to have one character that isn't really liked,  the unrelenting mother.
Meg  has a couple of problems;s she doesn't understand the word "deadline" although she has time to be with friends.   Meg knows definitely that her life is in danger but she doesn't take any caution at all.  She just keeps testing her luck, hoping it will hold up.  This isn't a good thing at all. My major concern with the book is the editing.  Missing words, wrong words such as "air" instead of "err".  Most every book is going to have errs, but I feel this book definitely needed some more editing.
I'm waiting anxiously for the next book.  Maybe Meg will gain her common sense. (Includes adventure guides)

I received a complimentary copy of SCENE OF THE CLIMB from the author, Kate Dyer-Seeley and Night Owl Reviews for my view of the book.

I would give this book  4 STARS.
