REVIEWCrow On Branch Clip Art
Ms. Novello wrote a charming, cute story about a crow.  This crow lives near a school.   This story is very short so it will hold the attention span of the little ones and the young at heart.  The pictures are very colorful and simple so it attracts immediately the eyes of the reader.
Most people don't like crows.  They think they are a real pain and scavengers.  Some even believe they are Omens.  Research has shown that crows are extremely intelligent, one of the smarter animals around.Clive put his cleverness to work by writing a note to the local school children and telling them that he was the one who was taking their food.  The children were leaving their food carelessly where Clive could get to it.  Open lunchboxes or picnic tables.  This was a tasty treat compared to the worms, snails and ants he was used to eating.  This story is a charming, fun little read with colorful pictures and humor all written with a simple vocabulary. Clive is rather a scoundrel that taunts the school children that they will never  catch him.  He may be right, crows can be very large, aggressive and quite daring when it comes to stealing food.

I received a complimentary copy of CLIVE THE CLEVER CROW from the author, Sandra Novello for my view of the book.

I would give this book 5 RAVENS.

AUTHOR
Sandra Novello
I was inspired to write this book while I was teaching a class of 6 and 7 year old students. Food was mysteriously disappearing from some of the students lunch boxes day after day and when I discovered what was happening, I decided to pose as the villain and write a letter to the children telling them why some of their food was disappearing from their schoolbags. After reading the letter, the students quickly pointed out a crow flying past their classroom and called out "There's Clive!"
Born in Melbourne, Australia and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Education in 1982.

While teaching at Casey Grammar in 2010, she was inspired to write her first book titled "Clive the Clever Crow".

Posing as the villain, she wrote a letter to the children telling them why some of their food was disappearing from their schoolbags.

After reading the letter and seeing the expressions of delight on the children's faces and the excitement every time a crow came close to their classroom, she was convinced to turn the letter into a book so other children could also enjoy his cheeky adventure at school.

Thank you for a great book review. Yes Crows are very clever and can be a bit scary so I wanted Clive to be a very special friendly crow that has befriended children because they have left him so much food. Thank you also for the lovely way you have presented your review, it makes it fun and enjoyable to read through.
Cheers,
Sandra Novello
