SUMMARY
(from Goodreads)
Veronica doesn't think she's going crazy. But why can't anyone else see the mysterious blond boy who keeps popping up wherever she goes? When her best friend, Mackenna, invites her to spend the summer in Scotland, Veronica jumps at the opportunity to leave her complicated life behind for a few months.

But the Scottish countryside holds other plans.

Not only has the imaginary kilted boy followed her to Alloway, she and Mackenna uncover a strange set of rings and a very unnerving letter from Mackenna's great aunt—and when the girls test the instructions Aunt Gracie left behind, they find themselves transported to a land that defies explanation. Doon seems like a real-life fairy tale, complete with one prince who has eyes for Mackenna and another who looks suspiciously like the boy from Veronica's daydreams. But Doon has a dark underbelly as well. The two girls could have everything they've longed for...or they could end up breaking an enchantment and find themselves trapped in a world that has become a nightmare.

DOON is loosely based on the premise of the musical Brigadoon, with permission from the Alan Jay Lerner Estate and the Frederick Loewe Foundation.

AUTHORS
Carey Corp                Lorie Langdon
CAREY CORP
Carey Corp wrote her first book, a brilliant retelling of Star Wars, at the prodigious age of seven. Since then, her love affair of reinvention has continued to run amuck. Writing both stories for young adults and literary fiction, she begins each morning consuming copious amounts of coffee while weaving stories that capture her exhaustive imagination. She harbors a voracious passion (in no consistent order) for mohawks, Italy, musical theater, chocolate, and Jane Austen.
DOON is the first of 4 books in her new young adult series loosely based on the concept of the musical Brigadoon, used with permission from the Alan Jay Lerner Estate & the Frederick Loewe Foundation, and co-written with Lorie Langdon. DOON debuts 8.20.13 with the brand new HarperCollins imprint BLINK. Her debut novel for teens, THE HALO CHRONICLES: THE GUARDIAN, earned her national recognition as 2010 Golden Heart finalist for best young adult fiction. She hopes to have a release date for the sequel, THE HALO CHRONICLES: THE KEEPER soon.
LORI LANGDON
Lorie Langdon has wanted to write her own novels since she was a wee girl reading every Judy Blume book she could get her hands on. So a few years ago, she left her thriving corporate career to satisfy the voices in her head. Now as a full-time author and stay-at-home mom, she spends her summers editing poolside while dodging automatic water-gun fire, and the rest of the year tucked into her cozy office, Havanese puppy by her side, working to translate her effusive imagination into the written word.

REVIEW
DOON,  magical setting in a Scottish kingdom that didn't really exist, that is until Veronica and Mackenna are there with no way out.  They found themselves interested in some attractive guys.   What a fairy tale with a dose of mysticism.   This is an adventure that will have you turning those pages as faster and you can. You just never knew what was on that next page. The author keeps you intrigued.  You just never knew what was going to happen next.
The Magical World of DOON.  You will feel that you turned that page and suddenly yo were in the world of DOON.  Time has stopped and you are there and there is no way out.  The world of DOON wasn't totally ancient.  Occasionally bits of today's world would be entered into the kingdom.  Nothing was allowed in that would change the basis of the kingdom. The two girls could have it all or they could be trapped forever in an evil kingdom. DOON is loosely based on the premise of the musical Brigadoon, with permission from the Alan Jay Lerner Estate and the Frederick Loewe Foundation. Follow the journey at http://www.DoonSeries.com

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a different kind of fairy tale with a basis of a musical, Brigadoon.  Follow Veronica and Mackenna as they enter the DOON magical kingdom.  Is it good or is it EVIL?  Read and find out if the girls are trapped or will they come back to reality?

I was given a complimentary copy of DOON from the authors, Carey Corp & Lorrie Langdon for my view of the book.  No other compensation took place.

I would give this book 3 CROWNS.
