AMISH ROADS
BOOK ONE
OVERVIEW
(from Goodreads)
Will Elizabeth’s rumschpringe lead her away from her home and her faith—or show her a new world of love and happiness?
Elizabeth is at a crossroad. Will rumschpringe lead her away? Or bring her home?
She's been given the chance to experience life outside of her community, away from the responsibility to care for her eight younger siblings, but Elizabeth Bontrager can't decide which road to take. Goshen has its charms and pressures, but Paradise, Pennsylvania, sounds . . . well, like paradise. And it's also home to her Englisch friend, Paula. Decision made. Elizabeth is Paradise bound.
But will the small town live up to its name? When Elizabeth meets Paula's friend, Bruce, she quickly learns he wants more than a friendship. And the same might be true of Saul Miller, her new boss at the country story that sells Amish products to the Englisch community. As the two compete for her attention, Elizabeth is surprised to realize she misses her family and becomes even more uncertain about where she belongs. She has a choice to make: return home or embrace this new life and possibly a new love?

REVIEW
I'm returning to Paradise in Ms. Cameron's new book. People have a bad habit of taking other people and things for granted. Like they have always been there and always will be. I know I'm guilty of that. In Goshen there is a young woman who missed out on her childhood and her teen years because her mother needed help with the younger children. Finally, Elizabeth Bontrager feels smothered, she has to find her place in this world and that may not be taking care of her siblings. Elizabeth is given a chance to leave and find out what life outside of her Amish community is like. Elizabeth has a hard time deciding but finally leaves and moves in with an Englischer, Paula she had met in Paradise, Pennsylvania. Will this actually turn out to be Paradise? She still held true to her Amish values and who she was. The author added a little humor as Elizabeth became accustomed to the kitchen appliances. I found the author integrated some of the characters from QUILTS OF LANCASTER COUNTY and STITCHES IN TIME. That made it even more interesting. It was like old friends meeting again.
Elizabeth finds out that sometimes what she thinks is friendship, turns out to be someone wanting more. She discovered that when she met Bruce. She has another competitor, Saul Miller, her boss that has a country store, selling Amish items to the Englischers.
Who will win Elizabeth's heart? She has two men desiring her attention. Elizabeth misses Goshen and her family. She decides to go home for a visit. Will Elizabeth return or will she go back to her new life and find love?
I believe Elizabeth had to spread her wings and find out what she truly wanted and needed. Sometimes we need to stumble and fall before we can finally realize where we belong.
The author, Ms. Cameron wrote a heart-warming tale of self discovery, faith, and love. I would recommend this book to anyone. A good , clean, warm Amish read with a few lessons thrown in.
I was given a complimentary copy of A ROAD UNKNOWN by Barbara Cameron from Litfuse Publicity Group for my honest opinion. No other compensation took place
