REVIEW
It is never too early to start teaching children about eating healthy and getting plenty of exercise daily. Ms. Jay brings this message out in this book, POPPY AND THE FAT PUPPY. Ms. Jay is a physician and has written a cute little children's book that helps children understand the importance of eating the right foods and not just sitting around. The story is basically about a fat dog who is name fat puppy that Poppy, a balloon rescues. Poppy decides to take the fat puppy to the vet. The vet talks to him about his eating and exercise habits. After the fat puppy is no longer fat, he is happy and healthy.. The book is written in an easy way for little ones to understand that they need to eat their veggies. The illustrations are a very good teaching tool for the little ones who aren't really reading yet. The illustrations tell the story only in pictures. The book is in large print and with colorful pictures that will keep the little one's attention. This isn't an easy task since little one's attention span is very short. I found a couple of other things that are nice about the book. The cover can be wiped off from those sticky little fingers that have held it. It also has a place on the first page where the child can put his or her name. This makes the book theirs and they like having things that belong to just them. I would recommend every parent to put this little book on their child's shelf to be read over and over again.
I would give this book 4 BALLOONS.
I was given a complimentary copy of POPPY AND THE FAT PUPPY from the author, Ms. Eli Jay/OutSkirtsPress for my honest opinion. I received no other compensation.
