BROOD X by Michael Phillip Cash

by Michael Phillip Cash                                                      5 STARS

Seth is laid off from work. His wife Lara just found out they are expecting a baby this summer. Seth plans on documenting the entire pregnancy with his brand new digital camcorder.
During an evening home watching television, the news reports that a swarm of cicada (Brood Ten) are expected to overwhelm the entire Northeast.
Brood Ten is vicious and ready to invade.
During a sweltering summer night, Brood Ten emerges and wreaks havoc with the electric grid, phone and cell service, wi-fi, food and water supply. Civilization as they know it is gone.
Seth and Lara are thrown back to the stone age in their own home with trillions of cicada trying to deposit their eggs and breed.
Will Seth grow up and take responsibility for his family? Or will the devastating bugs destroy humanity?

The author has written a book that is great horror novel which places you back in biblical times. At first you think it's about this little bug that makes a lot of noise.  This bug can be so horrifying and deadly that you won;/t ever see it as a little noisy bug again. Zombie's step aside, you are nothing compared to this.
You don't think much about the  cicada since it is dormant for such long periods, up to 17 years.  They then come to the surface and feed and breed for about 6 weeks.  The noise they make is loud, to say the least.
The author has written a suspenseful, page turner that you don't want to set down.

Everybody is in panic mode and are hurrying to prepare for BROOD X.  Warnings have been given by the Government. The many, many Cicadas outnumber the predators.  Pesticides aren't working. The Cicadas are seeing humans as trees.  They are laying their eggs anywhere and everywhere.  You are not even safe in your own home.  There is no communication,. They have   gone inside the water pipes and you will possibly starve. What are your options?  Are there any?

Follow Laura, Seth, Marni and Dominic as they find death and destruction all around them.  Instead of happiness for Laura's pregnancy, there is FEAR!  Will Seth step up and be the man he needs to be?  Will he discover things about himself and others that will make him grow up  Everything is going to be recorded on the camcorder.  What the outcome is, is left up to the readers.  This is a horrifying story of what  17 years of sleeping underground can be like when  the Cicadas wake up.  This is not what I expected when I started reading the book.  I'm at awe the possibility or reality that this will take place.  Read it and find out what you think about these little bugs that could be the ruination of the world as we know it.

I would give this book 5 STARS.
