MY THOUGHTS
This is book three of the series, Cousins Of The Dove and the final book. I would suggest reading them in order to really get the feel of the characters and the time period. The book is written a little different from other historical fiction books I've read. This is past and present, two different ideas and years apart, 150 years.
I had a bit of trouble at first, keeping the two main characters, Nicole Talbot and Therese Jennings separate but after I read more and more, I found the authors artfully took the two women and they came together. Nicole is a present day recovering addict and Therese Jennings, her Civil War relative.
It must have been a mixture of emotions living in Richmond back in the Civil War era. Danger surrounding and yet there was intrigue. The author takes you right there and you feel as though you know the characters and what they feel. Emotions are tremendous, and you will feel every one of them. Everything from danger, anger, love, and ever so much more. SO you might want to have a tissue ready for that possible tear.
The authors story moved quickly and flowed evenly. There were no times when you wondered what you had just read. I always love reading a book that makes you feel you are there. The characters were vividly described and the settings were right there in your eyes. I also liked the use of old photos to help with the descriptions of the characters and the time periods.
If you like Christian historical reads with strong women, beliefs about slavery and generations that melt together then try this series.
Oh yes, don't forget that bit of romance!
I received a copy of this book from the author and Litfuse Publicity Book Tours and voluntarily decided to review it.
I would give this book 4 STARS.
