Thea James has accepted an assignment as co-chairperson for Larkindale’s first quilt show extravaganza. Juggling the new assignment with running her antique business, she’s already feeling frayed when things start to unravel. Mary-Alice Wentworth, a much-loved town matriarch, respected quilt judge, and Thea’s dear friend, is covertly conked on the head during the kick-off Quilt Show Soiree, throwing suspicion on her guests. It also appears that a valuable diamond brooch has been stolen during the attack. The family is furious. But is it because of their mugged mother or the missing diamonds? When a renowned textile expert goes MIA and the famous Wentworth heritage quilt disappears, Larkindale’s reputation as a tourist haven is at risk. Thea attempts to piece the mystery together and save the town’s investment in the quilt show before Mary-Alice is attacked again . . . with far worse results.

A STITCH IN CRIME (Releasing January 2015/Available for Pre-order.)

Cathy Elliott

A STITCH IN CRIME by Cathy Elliot is the newest novel in the Quilts of Love Series.  The author wrote a book of crime and mystery, so if that is your cup of tea, you'll love this one.  This is the 25th book in the series.  The books don't have any particular order in which they should be read.    In every story a quilt is the backdrop.
Larkindale's first quilt show has named Thea James as their co-chair.  She is a little stressed when things start to go awry during the preview for some of the invited guest.  This was in Mary Alice Wentworth's garden.Mrs. Renee Fowler, newly wed and co-owner of the Heritage Inn critiques Thea for her fashion style.  If that wasn't enough rudeness, she makes a snide remark about Thea's contribution to the dessert buffet saying the Blueberry Tartlets' crust hasn't been made correctly, and the fruit selection was all wrong.  I would have come unglued on her but that's me. Thea held her cool by holding her tongue and smiling.  She goes off to find Dr. Cottle who is the guest judge and is an expert in the field of quilts.  She looks everywhere and can't find him.    She goes to find Mary Alice and instead Mary Alice comes up behind Thea and almost scares her to death.  Mary Alice goes upstairs to find a misplaced letter and hears a scream.  Thea comes in and finds Mary Alice in on the floor unconscious and a woman they don't know is standing over her.  Now they find out Mary Alice's brooch worth 25000 dollars is missing.  Has it been stolen or did Mary Alice misplace it?  The author keeps the reader in suspense.  You try to figure who did it but the author keeps you turning those pages until the end.  Another good QUILTS OF LOVE SERIES book.  I didn't find this one quite as good as some of the others I read.  To me it was rather a simple mystery, still a good book.

I was given a complimentary copy of STITCH IN CRIME from the author, Cathy Marie Elliott and Litfuse Publicity for my view of the book.  No other compensation took place.

I would give this book 3 STARS.
