This story was a very personal presentation of Stacy, the main character, and her state of mind.
Childhood filled with abuse and rape has followed this young woman to struggle with feelings as she tries to better her life. Wrong choices, as we all have made, have led to deep hurt which causes her to go back and forth with guilt and trust issues. I'm sure many readers have dealt with family members making choices for you without you ever being asked. I know I can relate. Sometimes they do it for you and sometimes it's for them. This woman feels she has lived a life without making choices for herself. It seems that I can relate to so much of this book. She was judged and found guilty by people who didn't even know anything about her. She feels she will be happy if she could just make her own choices. If she could just have that one freedom. Many times she would wonder "Where are you God?", "Why Me?". Stacy goes through a lot of struggle with her religion. As the book goes forward, Stacy changes and searches for what God wants her to do. She tries to connect with her daughter, work on her marriage with trying to talk things over with her husband.
This is not a light hearted book. So many struggles, heartaches and choices. Stacy's life wasn't an easy one and the book isn't an easy book to read. I didn't find it shocking. It isn't anything that I haven't seen or heard of before. Anyone who has these type of things to go through in their life, can be marred for life. I believe everyone goes through some type of struggles in their lives. The struggles may be different but all in all they struggle. Some deal, some don't. Some turn to God for answers and guidance, some turn elsewhere. Everyone and every situation is not the same.
If you would like to read a book about struggles and questioning your beliefs or maybe just a book you might be able to relate to, then pick up a copy and try reading it. It may end up being a DNF book for those who can't understand the trials of Stacy or just can't open their minds up to the fact that everyone doesn't have an easy way. Some have it really hard, without family support and doubts about themselves and their faith.
I was given a complimentary copy of LOVE ME SANE from the author, Tralisa McNeal for my view of the book. No other compensation took place.
I would give this book 3 Crosses.
