OVERVIEW
(from Goodreads)

Honor Among Rogues
Alexander Edgeware, Lord Xavier, has quite a reputation—for daring, wagering, and wickedness in all its delightful forms. But the wager before him is hardly his preferred sport: Xavier must persuade a proper young lady to attend his famously naughty Christmas house party—and stay the full, ruinous two weeks. Worse, the lady is Louisa Oliver, a doe-eyed bookworm Xavier finds quite charming. Yet to refuse the challenge is impossible—he will simply have to appoint himself Miss Oliver’s protector…

Mischief Among Misses
Louisa knows her chance for a husband has passed. But she has no desire to retire into spinsterhood without enjoying a few grand adventures first. When Lord Xavier’s invitation arrives, Louisa is more intrigued than insulted. And once inside the rogues’ gallery, she just may have a thing or two to teach her gentlemen friends about daring…

Historical romance author Theresa Romain pursued an impractical education that allowed her to read everything she could get her hands on. She then worked for universities and libraries, where she got to read even more. Eventually she started writing, too. She lives with her family in the Midwest.

REVIEW
A bet between Lord Xavier and his cousin Lord Longwood is to get Lady Louisa to attend a holiday party and stay two weeks at the house.  This doesn't include any seduction.  I have to give it to the two Lords.  Trying to control themselves while around a proper lady.  Lord Xavier usually wins, probably because of his  betting and his evilness.   It seems that a card game is to be paid out by spending more time with Louisa.  More than he wished.  I thought why wouldn't Lord Xavier want to be around lovely and proper Louisa.   Maybe because she was proper.  He finds himself telling her about himself.  This came as a surprise to me.  This conniving and evil man opening up himself to prim and proper Louisa.  Maybe the man wasn't so tough afterall. I loved their little meetings in the library.  Louisa loved them and it leads to confessions and kisses.  Then things did a turn around, Lord Longwood is the evil one.  He tells Xavier he will hurt Louisa if he doesn't lose a bet to him.  In order to protect Louisa, Xavier hurts her deeply with no reason or explanation.  What will happen to Louisa and Xavier?  Will they find true love?  The book was a lovely read.  I wanted more when I had finished the book.  It left me feeling satisfied and happy, but I still wanted more.  Ms. Romain wrote a lovely, adventurous, romantic read.  She added the holiday parts with humor, a little stress, cheer and some very real characters. I anxiously await the next book from Ms. Romain.  I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.  It's a delightful read and a lot of fun.
