THIS WAS DONE FOR
The book is about a difficult subject. Human trafficking is a wide spread situation that needs to be stopped. I was glad to see that someone had the courage to write about it. This is a fairly short, fast paced fictional read but if you are interested in the subject of human trafficking, it would be a good book for you to read. The story will make you stop and think about this terrible thing that is happening throughout the world. The story starts with Abby going to the streets of Geneva. She witnesses a murder and she remembers one thing. The victim had on a piece of jewelry, a sparkling bracelet. Abby starts to wonder if she was wrong about the bracelet. She has been taking medication to help her sleep and it has side effects. The crime scene left no evidence of a bracelet. Abby goes to Peshawar, Pakistan as a UN nurse. She takes on a job that is quite dangerous. Abby takes care of the reports on immunizations for the women and children. The clinic is where she learned about sexual trafficking. Abby starts to ask questions of different people and now she is in trouble. She is in fear of her life. This is something that really amazed me. Human trafficking is the 3rd largest export business in the world: That is almost unbelievable.Abby is helped by a newspaper reporter, Nick. They talk with women who had been saved from this terrible, evil world they had been living in. Things begin to come to the surface, the bracelet, smuggling of human beings, and the evil life human trafficking is. The author, Ms. Gately brings out front a very important issue that isn't talked about enough. She put so much detail into the story it seemed real instead of fiction. Human trafficking IS NOT fiction, it is REAL. I wish the author had told more about the bracelet and how it fit into the story. That is something I really wanted to know more about. I would recommend this book to anyone to read. It will raise questions in your mind and perhaps become aware or more aware of what is happening. Pick up a copy and follow Abby as she investigates the world of human trafficking.
I would give this book 3.5 STARS.
I was given a complimentary copy of THE BRACELET by Roberta Gately from NightOwlReviews for my unbiased opinion.
