OVERVIEW
(from Goodreads)

Those Across the River, a “beautifully written…exceedingly clever” (Boston Herald) masterpiece of “genuine terror” (New York Times bestselling author F. Paul Wilson), was hailed by #1 New York Times bestselling author Charlaine Harris as “one of the best first novels I’ve ever read.” Now comes Christopher Buehlman’s new novel—one of uncommon horrors hiding behind the walls of the house next door…

“You think you got away with something, don’t you? But your time has run out. We know where you are. And we are coming.”
The man on the screen says this in Russian.
“Who are you?”
The man smiles, but it’s not a pleasant smile.
The image freezes.
The celluloid burns exactly where his mouth is, burns in the nearly flat U of his smile. His eyes burn, too.
The man fades, leaving the burning smiley face smoldering on the screen.
“Oh Christ,” Andrew says.
The television catches fire.

Andrew Ranulf Blankenship is a handsome, stylish nonconformist with wry wit, a classic Mustang, and a massive library. He is also a recovering alcoholic and a practicing warlock, able to speak with the dead through film. His house is a maze of sorcerous booby traps and escape tunnels, as yours might be if you were sitting on a treasury of Russian magic stolen from the Soviet Union thirty years ago. Andrew has long known that magic was a brutal game requiring blood sacrifice and a willingness to confront death, but his many years of peace and comfort have left him soft, more concerned with maintaining false youth than with seeing to his own defense. Now a monster straight from the pages of Russian folklore is coming for him, and frost and death are coming with her.

REVIEW
Have you ever had a dream and you wake up but the dream is still there..?  You feel that you weren't really dreaming but it was really happening.  That is what this book did for me.  It wasn't like reading a book, it was as though it was truly happening.  It doesn't matter if you like horror, fantasy, fiction, mystery or a combination of all, this book was written for anyone. From the first page, it's as though the book has hands wrapped around you and won't let you go. The author combines a modern day setting in present day upstate New York, with dark and somewhat evil situations.  The author characterized the women as being strong and independent.  They have their own lives just as Andrew Blankenship who is a warlock.Andrew is hiding out near Lake Ontario He is tormented by his  dark, sad past along with his addiction to alcohol. They are all living, breathing, powerful and yet complicated beings.magical 'users", An addict lesbian with a talent for stone magic. He also brings into his ring a "rusalka" a water spirit  from a suicide.  This is the beginning of the drowning of an unknown Russian man living in a nearby cabin. Along the way, Andrew picks up a few odd creatures. Some  One minute you will be on the edge of your seat and scared witless and you turn the page and you're feeling a different emotion.  I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. The author put in a  mismatched romance which was right in the mid of it all.  There were modern day cybernetics and Magic of days ago. You also have a fair amount of addictions, especially alcoholics. Mr. Buehlman weaves a web that entangles you and you are there for the endurance of the book. The author, Christopher Buehlman put a huge investment into this book, emotionally and time wise. This book comes at  a time of the year when it fits right in.  HALLOWEEN, what a treat! So you must pick up a copy of THE NECROMANCER'S HOUSE by Christopher Buehlman. Enter into a world that is modern and yet so different.  You will laugh, cry, get a bit mad, and read on for more.  You won't be able to get enough.  Thanks to Mr. Buehlman for a FANTASTIC read.

I gave this book 5 STARS.

I was given a complimentary copy of THE NECROMANCER'S HOUSE by Christopher Buehlman from Spark Point Studio for my honest review.
