Many are called...
She alone can save the world and become Death's bride.

Cobweb Bride is a history-flavored fantasy novel with romantic elements of the Persephone myth, about Death's ultimatum to the world.

What if you killed someone and then fell in love with them?

In an alternate Renaissance world, somewhere in an imaginary "pocket" of Europe called the Kingdom of Lethe, Death comes, in the form of a grim Spaniard, to claim his Bride. Until she is found, in a single time-stopping moment all dying stops. There is no relief for the mortally wounded and the terminally ill....

Covered in white cobwebs of a thousand snow spiders she lies in the darkness... Her skin is cold as snow... Her eyes frozen... Her gaze, fiercely alive...

While kings and emperors send expeditions to search for a suitable Bride for Death, armies of the undead wage an endless war... A black knight roams the forest at the command of his undead father ... Spies and political treacheries abound at the imperial Silver Court.... Murdered lovers find themselves locked in the realm of the living...

Look closer — through the cobweb filaments of her hair and along each strand shine stars...
And one small village girl, Percy—an unwanted, ungainly middle daughter—is faced with the responsibility of granting her dying grandmother the desperate release she needs.

As a result, Percy joins the crowds of other young women of the land in a desperate quest to Death's own mysterious holding in the deepest forests of the North...

And everyone is trying to stop her.

Death will take no more souls until he finds his COBWEB BRIDE. The Emperor orders the COBWEB BRIDE to go to Death's Keep in the Northern Forest, in the kingdom of Lethe. Everyone fears death. The fear comes from not knowing what will happen when you die. We all know there comes your time to die.  But the author puts forth the question: "What if they don't". I find that an interesting concept.  What is no one had to die?  Something the author gives you to move around in your brain.  The world where this takes place is being built as the book progresses. The author went into a long, descriptive and poetic view of this world. I found the novel rather hard to warm up to.  There were a lot of characters and places being introduced all at one time.  A bit much to absorb and keep straight. After you read a little the characters seem to gain a face and personality. I was a little disappointed to find that this book didn't really have an ending.  It is part of a series, so I thought maybe each book continued the story until the last book, where the ending would be.  I'm not sure though. This is definitely a fantasy read.  It's just that in places it went way to fast with too much information at once,.  I did finally catch up with all the characters but it took a while. The book does contain walking corpses, bodies in different stages of death.  If you don't mind the gore and the death, if you like the fantasy world, then this is the book for you.
I would give this book 3 STARS.
I was given a complimentary e-book of COBWEB BRIDE  by Vera Nazarian for this unbiased review.

The cover is magnificent.

In the absence of Death,
In the presence of Death,
Only one thing remains,
It is Love.
