TWICE BETRAYED                                         4 STARS
by Carla Tucker Minks

OVERVIEW   (FROM AMAZON)
Carla Tucker Minks delivers a delightful story of a west coast therapist and the secrets that bind the small community of Chelsea. Taylor Calloway is a thirty-six year old psychotherapist, living her dream in Chelsea. With a fulfilling career and satisfying marriage, she believes that her life is just as she wants it to be. Life is good for Taylor until the day she learns of an affair between her husband, Jake, and one of her oldest friends. Suddenly her world is turned upside-down and she finds herself living the same reality as many of her own clients dealing with infidelity. What direction will the affair take her marriage? The husband of Taylor's best friend, Annette, has been missing for five years and remained a cold case until she receives a call from Detective Ruthie Morris explaining that her husband, Calvin, has surfaced in neighboring Oregon. Everyone had come to believe that he would never come back to Chelsea after so long. So many questions were unanswered. So many clues were never found. Will the disappearance of her best friend's husband ever be solved? The secrets shared by residents of Chelsea are heard by Taylor in a small office just steps from the calming ocean current. How will Taylor cope with those and her own secrets and turmoil? Will she find comfort in the arms of another? Her life must change, but what path will she take and who will be there with her?

REVIEW:
The book was very easy to read. This would be a good book to read on one of those lazy, hazy days of summer. The characters are very realistic  Main character is Taylor Calloway.  She lives in Chelsea where she is a therapist. She is loyal to her husband, friends and her work.  Things were going good until the bottom fell out. The story is very well written and the characters are described as though this were a real life story.  It very well could be. Taylor finds out her husband is cheating on her. We have Taylor's best friend's husband who has been missing for 5 years.  Has he re-appeared?Will the mystery ever be solved? Taylor feels she needs to change her life, but what will she do?  This story makes you think that these characters could be someone you know.  It could even be you.  These things happen more than we are willing to admit.  The author made the book so descriptive that it kept your interest.  It has a little bit of mystery, romance, infidelity, happiness and sadness plus much more.  It is a short read.  I'm hoping the author, Ms. Minks plans on continuing this story in another book.  Looking forward.  I would recommend this short read to anyone who likes a realistic feel in a book.  Try it and develop your own opinion..

I would give this book 4 STARS

"Writing has always been an activity that I enjoy. Though writer's block plagues me like any other person putting ideas to paper, I've always enjoyed the exercise of creating a story that very well could be true. Writing fiction is hard. Not writing is harder."

Twice Betrayed is Ms. Minks' first novel and is working on a sequel to be published in 2013 followed by a murder mystery.
