KATIE OPENS HER HEART                                      5 STARS
Emma Raber's Daughter
Book 1
by Jerry S. Eicher

Bestselling Amish fiction author Jerry S. Eicher (nearly half a million copies sold) returns with the first book in another of his delightful and compelling series.

Here is the touching story of an awakening young Amish girl, Katie Raber, who finds she wants more from life than to be known as simply "Emma Raber's daughter."

Emma has refused to remarry since Katie's daett died soon after she was born. And in an effort to keep Katie home, Emma has forbidden her from participating in the rumspringa tradition.

When widower Jesse Mast calls for Mamm's hand in marriage, Katie hopes to move into a new phase of life and leave the old "Emma Raber's daughter" behind. But Emma is having none of it, and Katie must consider abandoning all hope of ever changing her Mamm's bitterness or of ever having popular Ben Yoder notice her. Out of sheer frustration, she begins attending nearby Mennonite youth gatherings.

Sparks fly when Jesse's children object fiercely to the attentions their daett is paying to Emma Raber. And widowed Ruth Hochstetler makes her own move for Jesse Mast's hand.
Book one in the Emma Raber's Daughter series.

Katie Opens Her Heart' by Jerry Eicher is a very good book, well written and edited. Jerry Eicher is a best selling Amish fiction writer. This book is the first book in a series EMMA RABER'S DAUGHTER.

Katie has always been "Emma Raber's Daughter", maybe the title should have been that. Katie wants more, much more. Katie and her maam live in the Delaware Amish county. Katie is a prisoner in her own home, kind of held captive by her own mother. Emma has been asked for her hand several times but refuses. Katie wishes she would wed.

Will Katie become defiant and realize if she doesn't do something soon, she will never have a life outside of being "Emma Raber's Daughter? If Emma doesn't decide to wed soon, will another take her place? Will Katie find love, after being kept from the 'rumspringa' while all the other young folk were funning around and discovering new things?

Katie misses her daett. Should she put her faith in DaHah? Would life eventually be wonderbah?

You wonder why her mother hangs on to Katie so hard. I think the author wrote a great book. You want to step into their Amish community and live their lives. The book was well written and held you in suspense at just the right moments. It's a page turner. He was very descriptive in the surroundings and the people. You just don't want it to end. Book Two is waiting your review. I would recommend this book to everyone, young and young at heart.  It is so inspiring and heart warming.

Take this book and read every word and you'll find sort of a peace come over you.

I would give this book 5 STARS.

I was given a complimentary copy of KATIE OPENS HER HEART by the author, Jerry S. Eicher for this honest review.
